We will be hosting our school-wide battles at Rieke on Wednesday, February 8, at 5:00 pm. We anticipate the event will end around 8:00 pm.
Students from all teams will get multiple opportunities to battle. Winning teams will move forward in a bracket, with the final winner moving on to the regional Oregon Battle of the Books competition.
Each battle consists of 16 questions total. Half the questions ask students to identify the title and author of a book; the other half will be questions about the content of the books.
Students are not required to read every book on the list. Some students may choose to read all the books, but most teams divide reading responsibilities so each child reads around half of the books.
You can find much more information (including the list of this year's books) on the official OBOB website here.
The Washington County Libraries website also has an information page with links to helpful video content.
Use Multnomah County Library's interactive OBOB title list to place holds on books for pickup at the Hillsdale Library. (Pro tip: you can also access audiobooks and digital ebooks from the library on Libby.
We will need volunteers to help run our school battle! If you are interested in volunteering, please let Ellen Pederson know.
