The PTA fundraising Committee is always looking for new ways to raise money for the PTA while building community. Next month, November 6, we have a pint night fundraiser coming up at Level Beer in Multnomah Village. Come socialize and decompress after Election Day, a portion of all proceeds go to Rieke! This includes 20% of beer to go sales and merch!

The first PTA meeting of the year is coming up on Tuesday, October 15th! Join us from 6-8 PM at Salvador Molly’s in Hillsdale. We will be discussing goals for the year, fundraising opportunities, digging deeper into the new PTA committees that were set up at the end of last school year and more! We invite you to come join the discussion and share ideas.
FREE CHILDCARE PROVIDED AT RIEKE FROM 6-8
Please RSVP here so we have a head count for food and childcare
Come join us for dinner at the food carts and an evening of songs by Mr. Jeans and see some friends - PTA will be there to answer questions about the new school year.
Bring your rakes, shovels, gloves and knee pads and help us spruce up the Rieke campus in preparation for the new school year!
We realize this is unfortunately the same day as the Multnomah Days event but we are hoping a good number of folks will come out for an hour or two before they head down to the village.
When is it? May 20-24. But you can register, set up your personal page, and start collecting donations anytime before May 20.
How does it work? Students go on to the Read-a-thon website to register (specifics below) and set up their own personal page. From there, they can track their reading, share their progress with friends, family, and neighbors, and encourage them to make a donation. While donations are not required to participate, we hope families will donate and will ask others to as well, so we can fund the critical programs we love at Rieke - our Specials!
Why should we participate? It’s a chance to celebrate and encourage reading. It’s fun and easy and there are great prizes! All students who register on the site will get a Rieke Read-a- thon bookmark. Students who reach their reading goal will get a Rieke water bottle sticker. And the student who reads the most in each grade will get a gift certificate to Annie Blooms Books. Most importantly, donations made to the Read-a-thon will help fund our amazing Specials - Library, Technology and Art. We strongly encourage families to donate and share with others. Every dollar counts!
How do we register? To add your child as a participant, please follow these 3 easy steps:
1. Go to this link -
2. Enter your child’s name, enter your email(s), and select their group.
3. Click “Add” > this will take you to your newly created pledge page!

EVENT DETAILS:
The event will be held on the evening of Thursday, May 2, 2024. The event will be located at Rieke Elementary. Science project presentations will be located at the undercover play area. Oregon Reptile Man presentations will be in the library. Science demonstrations will be in the first grade classrooms.
Setup will take place from 5:00 – 6:00 pm with volunteer help. For science projects, the undercover play area will be configured with cafeteria tables for presentation spaces. In general, we try to do grades K–2 from 6:00 – 7:00 pm and grades 3–5 from 7:00 – 8:00 pm. But, it is important to the students that we try to balance equal numbers of projects between the two sessions, so stay tuned for an email from Science Fair Coordinator Bryan Danforth for confirmation of presentation time.
Session 1 presenters will check in from 6:00 – 6:15 pm. Presenters and family will check in with the registration desk upon arrival. There, each presenter will be assigned a presentation space number and will fill out their project information on their certificate. Presenters will then proceed to their assigned space and set up their presentation materials.
Then, from 6:15 – 6:45 pm, presenters will have an opportunity to interact with audience members (other students, Rieke families/staff, science fair judges, etc.) about their project. The judges are adult volunteers who ensure that each student gets an opportunity to explain in detail what they have worked on. To be clear, there are no winners – each judge will present each presenter with a completed review certificate and a ribbon. If students would prefer NOT to interact with others, that’s fine, too. But we would encourage all students to seize this unique opportunity to speak and interact with an interested audience about what they’ve worked so hard on. There won’t be any individual presentations in front of the entire group. Rather, it will be small, informal interactions as the audience circulates from project to project.
Then, at 6:45 pm, we’ll close Session 1 and ask presenters to pack up their projects to take home. And we’ll do it all again from 7:00 – 8:00 pm with Session 2 presenters.
In order to give both Session 1 and Session 2 students a chance to visit The Oregon Reptile Man show and the classrooms for science demos, there will be two sessions for those activities, as well.
Rieke Auction Tickets on Sale – Get Yours Now!
The annual Rieke Auction is coming up on Saturday, April 20 at the Mittleman Jewish Community Center (MJCC). We're working hard to make this event special and would love to see you there! This is our biggest fundraiser of the year, which helps raise the critical funds for beloved Rieke programs like media and tech – along with ensuring our art program remains full-time for our kids.
Our theme is “Starry Nights” and we hope you’ll join us for this memorable evening with our Rieke community. Get your tickets or purchase a table today by clicking here
This year, we have some great silent and live auction items including a weekend in Cannon Beach, a guest appearance during the weather forecast with Andy Carson on Fox 12’s Good Day Oregon, tickets to the Wonder Ballroom, a wine tasting at Beacon Hill winery, a family fun pack at Langer’s Entertainment Center, and much more!
Help us Make the Rieke Auction a Success!
There are several ways to get involved in the auction beyond purchasing your tickets and attending the event. Here’s how you can help:
Donate an Auction Item
Do you have something big or small you would like to donate to our silent
or live auction? Have a vacation house, tickets to sporting events or have hotel
connections? Do you own a business or know any local business owners who can donate a gift certificate, merchandise or special items? Donations are tax deductible, so whether it comes from you individually or a business you know, this is a great way to get involved and support Rieke. Please email Shannon Daley if you have something to offer or know someone who might!
Donate to the Wine Wall
We are collecting bottles of wine for our wine wall, where you pay a set fee and blindly choose your bottle…which could be a good one or a great one! It’s a win-win. This year, we are specifically looking for donations of red wine. If you have a bottle to donate, or have a connection to a wine shop or a local vineyard that would be willing to donate, please reach out to Amie Peterson.
Buy Raffle Tickets
We’ll be holding three special raffles during the event. You can buy tickets to our "Principal for a Day," “P.E. Teacher for a day” and “Lunch at the Food Trucks with Mr. Johnstone” raffle prizes, where two students will shadow Principal Jeans and Coach V, and another will dine with Mr. Johnstone. The raffle winners will be chosen at the event, but you do not need to be present to win. You can start buying raffle tickets now at ourschool.auction/Rieke2024
